The Himalayan Innovative Society (THIS) is an NGO based in the Humla region. It was established by two incredible Humlis, DB Lama and Babita Lama, who were among the first in their communities to get a quality education outside Humla. They aim to bring about social reform through a ‘bottom-up’ process in Humla, with full participation of local people in making informed choices about the development of their region. THIS works on a variety of projects in diverse areas, including repatriation of trafficked children, health, education, cultural preservation, and income generation projects.
